    Fondest Memory = At West High, it is the blessing of receiving the Margaret Salmon award in my senior year. To receive something in honor of this wonderful leader, touches my heart still.

    What is the most important thing in your life today = My health - having lost my ability to function in the world for 8 years, having so much restored gives me the gift of keeping the important things in tact: husband, family and spiritual base.
    What do you hope to do when you retire = I'm in a phase of renewal! Retire? Not in my vocabulary; I'm re-inventing myself at 55 years of age and know that I'll always be someone who learns and grows no matter what.
    Most important lesson learned = Life is an adventure best lived in reality and hope. My spiritual (not religious) foundation has allowed a place in me that balances these two aspects of life.

Reality is where it is at - we do age, we do experience loss, we do have to care for our own physical, mental and spiritual selves. We also gain wisdom, courage, tenacity, renewal and love throughout our lives as we integrate the ups and downs. Denial of reality just hinders our progress. At 45, I was told my life was over; fortunately the doctors were wrong. I never let go of the reality of my illnesses and I never let go of hope. Today I'm living a life that I am grateful for every day. And, I can't remember ever being happier, more grounded and more hopeful for what may lie around the bend.
